Utilities / Energy

Dovetail Cultural Resource Group provides a wide range of services to our Utility clients across the Mid-Atlantic region. Nothing is more critical to our communities than maintaining high quality utility amenities including water lines, sewer lines, infrastructure for energy transmission –power generation and transmission of electricity, oil, wind, and natural gas, and wireless service and its associated towers, as well as fiber-optic lines. As these types of projects require licenses from Federal and regional agencies, cultural resource studies are one of many environmental requirements.

Cultural resource clearance is one of the many approvals that must be obtained prior to a project being approved. Dovetail understands archaeological and architectural resources in the Mid-Atlantic region, knows local, state, and federal regulations, and maintains excellent relationships with reviewers at State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) across the region. Dovetail can help our clients work through this process in a culturally sensitive manner, at an affordable cost, and in a time efficient manner.

We have successfully provided cultural resource consulting services in support of the following types of projects:

  • Electric Transmission Lines
  • Substations
  • Natural Gas Pipelines
